Twitter what is it? How is it helping in Christchurch?
On the 22nd of February an Earth Quake with a magnitude of 6.3 hit just outside of Christchurch causing many buildings to collapse. At the moment there a 93 people confirmed dead and 226 still missing. But how is Twitter helping? Well under all the rubble there are people posting items on Twitter. They are saying we are under the rubble and still alive. Another thing being posted on Twitter is were the water is being given away and there is also grief lines being posted. They are also posting videos of the earthquake for every one to see. There are also photos being posted. Here are some examples from twitter and the NZ herald.

Twitter is good in a crisis because any one can access even no you’re not a member this is good because unlike face book were you have to be a member and a friend of the person to see there posts. So this allows people to twitter and no that any one will see it. Allowing emergence services to get to you faster which might be a life or death. Free WiFi was also available at Telecom Riccarton Mall, Cafe Zero and the Westpac Centre in Addington. This will make it easer to use twitter and check up on family and friends. Twitter  is going to have more uses then Facebook due to the fact that you can access it when ever you want and you don’t have to be a friend to see other peoples bogs.

You are able to too donate to red cross to help the relief fund to rebuild and Cantabria’s back on there feet. People can text 4419 to make an automatic $3 donation. Auckland Council has announced a $1.5 million donation to the Christchurch earthquake relief effort. You can also donate non-perishable food.
